Surface waters are vulnerable to pollution. To prevent uncontrolled discharges, environmental laws have been implemented and are becoming increasingly strict for both industrial and municipal wastewater. Over the past decades, innovations in wastewater treatment have focused on:

  • increasing treatment efficiency
  • reducing fossil energy use
  • recovering biochemical energy and other resources from waste streams.

This webinar will highlight novel developments and current research at TU Delft in these areas. Topics include: the role of anaerobic conversion processes in improving energy efficiency and resource recovery, sustainable removal of emerging pollutants such as pharmaceutical residues, endocrine-disrupting and PFAS-like compounds, and the potential of aerobic granular sludge technology to enhance the sustainability of municipal sewage treatment.

Main takeaways:

  • Learn about the state-of-the-art in wastewater treatment
  • Gain insights into novel treatment techniques
  • Connect with TU Delft researchers and share your insights
  • Discover TU Delft’s online education in (waste)water treatment
