As a former engineer, I had to rethink my way of looking at things a few times during my academic career. This challenge arose precisely because I chose to work with the theme of water. If at first water could be seen only as a resource, over time environmental and social aspects overlapped economic issues. As each person has a natural understanding and relationship with water, reaching different audiences as an educator becomes even more challenging. I always believed that water heritage would be an excellent starting point, and when I came across this course, I was immediately interested in learning about the approaches used and acquiring additional knowledge for the continuation of my career.
My previous experience of studying and living in the Netherlands made me confident that I would be in contact not only with trained professionals but also with people highly involved with the topic. The course was excellent, characterized by dynamic teachers, dedicated tutors, interested classmates, high quality materials, very interesting case studies, interviews, podcasts, a wide variety of materials that made the course very welcoming (despite being distance learning). The course structure and design kept us active and connected to the activities, which also contributed to the success of the experience. TU Delft is a reference in teaching and research in water resources and having completed a course taught by such institution is a privilege. Personally, I liked the course so much that I signed up for another course (Water Works: Activating Heritage for Sustainable Development), and I look forward to meeting you there!
