the appetite for more aerospace knowledge - Jesper Mølgaard

"I get a better understanding of the limitations of the airframe, as well as a common language to better understand the decisions being made by the rest of the crew."

While working as a Physician, Jesper Mølgaard participated in the online course Introduction to Aerospace Structures and Materials. Read about his experience.

What was your motivation for enrolling in this course/program?
I have always been interested in aerospace technology. Even though I ended up as a doctor in medicine, ever since I started doing Search And Rescue missions with the Danish Airforce, my interest has been re-kindled.

How did/will this course impact your career or life?
To me, the course means that I get a better understanding of the limitations of the airframe, as well as a common language to better understand the decisions being made by the rest of the crew. But it also simultaneously sate and induce the appetite for more aerospace knowledge.

How was your experience learning online?
I am not always a fan of online education, but this was genuinely a good experience. There are good examples and small but helpful exercises to help understand the topics. The quizzes have a good difficulty level: You do need to pay attention, but otherwise they are not too difficult if you know basic math. You also get very much under the skin of one of your favorite aircrafts.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking of taking a similar course?
Do it. It is a great introduction. If the other courses by TU Delft are similar in structure, I will be looking forward to taking them soon.
