"The authors of the course did an amazing job. They managed to present a lot of complex concepts in simple words."

Andrii Kolovskyi is a Server and Network Administrator from Ukraine. He participated in the online course Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Pack Design. Read about his experience.

Why did you choose to enroll in this course/programme?
I have always had a passion for the Electronics. I started to solder electronic circuits at 12. Having received a degree in Computer Science, I continue to deepen my knowledge of the electronic circuits. Working as a server administrator, I design and assemble a few microcontroller-based devices which greatly help me to perform my duties. When my country started to experience blackouts in 2022, I got interested in assembling battery packs. I built a 12V 100Ah LFP battery using off-the-shelf BMS. This motivated me to search more information on the inner workings of the BMS. So, I decided to broaden my knowledge and take this course.

How did/will this course impact your career or life?
During the course, I learned a lot about battery's State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH) estimation. Starting this course, I had in mind a project I wanted to design - a LED night light backed by a LiFePO4 battery. It would be good to have remaining SOC estimation to be able to calculate approximate running time at different levels of LED brightness. I am sure that the knowledge I received will help me to finish this project.

Also, I am thinking about exploring the carrier opportunities in the field of Internet of Things (IoT). Having a solid experience in network and server administration, I am also looking for online courses which wiil help me to broaden and solidify my knowledge in the Electronics and IoT. This course fits my goal perfectly. A great number of IoT devices have batteries and Battery Management Systems. So, this course will definitely help those interested in advancing their carrier in IoT.

How was your learning experience?
The authors of the course did an amazing job. They managed to present a lot of complex concepts in simple words. The course explores different aspects of BMS design, giving the learner foundations for the knowledge to be built upon. Having finished the course, I am feeling a lot more confident to continue learning about batteries and BMS.

If you’d recommend this course to others, tell us why and share any advice for future learners.
I would recommend this course not only to the professionals, but also for electronic hobbysts and every person looking to know more about batteries and their proper usage.
