Why did you choose to enroll in this course/programme?
I chose to study this course to deepen my expertise in façade design and engineering, particularly in the context of sustainable and high-performance building envelopes.

As an architect currently pursuing a master’s degree in Façade Design and Technology, I was looking to complement my academic education with practical, real-world knowledge from international experts. This course offered exactly that: a clear overview of different façade systems, key material behaviors, performance criteria, and design-construction integration.

I was also drawn to the course because it’s hosted by TU Delft, a leading institution in architectural innovation and sustainability. My goal was not only to develop new technical skills, but also to better understand how façade systems respond to climate, material logistics, and detailing challenges, skills that are essential for improving my future professional performance and contributing to more sustainable architectural practices.

How did/will this course impact your career or life?
The course helped me connect theory with applied practice, and I now feel more confident discussing technical façade decisions in both academic presentations and professional settings. It also strengthened my interest in façade sustainability, circular material use, and lifecycle performance, topics that are increasingly relevant in the built environment.

I plan to use this knowledge in future architectural and interdisciplinary teams where façade design plays a central role. It’s already influencing how I approach project detailing, system selection, and design briefs. Overall, it has helped position me more clearly in the emerging field of façade technology and opened up possibilities for further specialization or consultancy work in this area.

How was your learning experience?
What I appreciated most was the format: combining expert interviews, real building case studies, and clear explanations of technical systems. It felt dynamic and grounded in practice, not just theoretical. The inclusion of well-known façade engineers and architects brought depth and credibility, and the behind-the-scenes look at buildings made the content very tangible and motivating.

It pushed me to focus more closely and revisit complex topics. Overall, the course delivery was smooth, visually rich, and thoughtfully curated. It gave me tools I will carry into both academic research and professional projects.

If you’d recommend this course to others, tell us why and share any advice for future learners.
My advice to future learners is to stay curious and take full advantage of the case examples. Revisit the expert interviews more than once, they are dense with insight. And the assignments are an opportunity to apply concepts directly to your own work or interests. The more you connect the material to your own projects, the more rewarding it becomes.

This course doesn’t just teach façade systems, it changes how you see buildings.
