"What I’ve learned and absorbed will surely support my future publications, providing additional material and knowledge to better explore new arguments and increase the value of my research."

Alessio Disanto is a PhD student from Italy. He participated in the online program Quantum Computer and Quantum Internet Applications: Hands-on Training with QuTech’s Quantum Demonstrators.

What was your motivation for enrolling in this course/program?
I was looking for structured courses to enhance my quantum-related knowledge and expand my competencies in quantum simulations. Being introduced to cQASM and focusing on fundamental concepts of the Quantum realm is essential for fulfilling my research goals. With this online format—where the content is available to be studied at any time—it becomes much easier for me to follow along and continue my studies while working.

How did/will this course impact your career or life?
Taking this course has enhanced my general knowledge of quantum computing and will help me achieve my current goal of earning my PhD. What I’ve learned and absorbed will surely support my future publications, providing additional material and knowledge to better explore new arguments and increase the value of my research.

How was your experience of learning online?
It has been very useful to learn in such an asynchronous way. Since I am also working alongside my PhD., I sometimes face time constraints and difficulties in finding a fixed time to follow courses. However, with the way this course was presented, I was able to find the right moments to engage with the material. Now, thanks to this, I am up to date with the course content and actively studying all the material I have.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking of taking a similar course?
To stay focused and keep up. Remember that studying isn’t always easy—it can sometimes make you feel discouraged or unsure of yourself. However, the key is to trust yourself and not let anything break you down or drag you down with it. Stay on track and learn as much as you can!
