Bio

John Posada Duque is tenured assistant professor on “Integral Sustainability Analysis” at the Department of Biotechnology, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. Dr. Posada is a chemical engineer with a MSc in catalysis, a PhD in process design, and a 4-year post-doctoral experience on environmental assessment of biobased products and design of sustainable biorefineries (at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University, the Netherlands).

As part of the multidisciplinary section Biotechnology and Society, he leads the work on “Integral Sustainability for the Biobased Economy”. His current research interests are broad and cover, amongst others: process design, techno-economic evaluation, and environmental impacts assessment, social impacts analysis, and integrated quantitative sustainability assessment and multi-criteria analysis for bio-based products. In doing do so, his group combines knowledge and tools from engineering practice and social sciences. His research aims to help to develop long-term sustainable solutions within the bio-economy.
