Bio

Johan Ninan is internationally recognized with the PMI Young Researcher Award, the IPMA Global Young Researcher Award, and the APM Paper of the Year Award. At TU Delft, he coordinates the 'Project Management: from Nano to Mega' multidisciplinary minor and is involved in the MSc Construction Management and Engineering (CME) program. His research primarily focuses on the transdisciplinary design of infrastructure with a key emphasis on engaging stakeholders from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to achieve societal impact. His areas of study encompass stakeholder engagement, collaboration, innovation, resilience, safety, information and communication technology (ICT), and project organizing.

Johan has conducted extensive studies on infrastructure megaprojects in various countries, including Australia, India, the UK, and the Netherlands. He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at University College London (UCL) after completing his PhD in stakeholder management in mega projects from an organizational power perspective jointly awarded by Business School, University of Technology Sydney and Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He has a civil engineering background having completed his construction management degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He also has worked as planning manager at Larsen and Tourbo Infrastructure in multiple highway projects in India. 

He contributes to the SAGE research methods collection titled ‘Doing Research Online’ (DRO) and serves as the editor for the special collection on 'Novel Research Methodologies, Methods and Data in Project Studies.' He is a guest editor of the Project Management Journal (PMJ) and is part of the international editorial board the International Journal of Project Management (IJPM).
