Bio
Jie Yang is an assistant professor in the Web Information Systems group at Delft University of Technology. He co-leads the research line on Crowd Computing & Human-Centered AI and co-directs the Delft Design@Scale AI Lab. Before joining TU Delft, he was a machine learning scientist at Alexa Shopping, Amazon Research, based in Seattle, and a senior researcher at the eXascale Infolab, University of Fribourg - Switzerland.
Jie’s research focuses on human-in-the-loop approaches for trustworthy machine learning, especially for natural language processing systems. He has published more than 70 papers in leading venues of information systems and AI such as The Web Conference/WWW, HCOMP, SIGIR, HT, CHI, CHIIR, AAAI, EMNLP, and TKDE. His work has received the Best Paper Award nomination at the Web Conference (2022), the Best Paper Award at the 28th ACM HT Conference (2017), the 1st Prize Blue Sky Idea, and the Best Demo Award at AAAI HCOMP (2021).
Jie is active in serving research communities. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Human Computation, on the (senior) program committees of leading conferences in fields related to Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence, and regularly reviews journals and transactions such as IEEE TKDE, ACM TOIS, TWeb, TiiS, and TIST.
