Bio

Alessandra Luna Navarro is an assistant professor in Facade Design and Engineering at Delft University of Technology and co-founder at Building Impulse. She was Visiting Scholar at CBE at UC Berkeley in 2024. Her research revolves around human-building interaction, in particular on human-façade interaction to enhance human experience whilst reducing resource consumption in buildings. She is a chartered engineer in Italy and the UK. In her professional activity, she has been working on a wide range of different buildings and façades, from modern flagship buildings to the refurbishment of historic buildings.

She has a master’s degree in building engineering and architecture from La Sapienza University of Rome and an MPhil in Energy Technologies from the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. She has also obtained a PhD from the University of Cambridge by researching occupant-centered design and operation of façades. Her research was awarded with the Future Cities Fellowship at the University of Cambridge and funded by Arup, Permasteelisa and EPSRC. She collaborates with regional energy policy makers, the International Energy Agency, CIBSE and industry in linking evidence and innovation to policy and practice. 

Currently, Alessandra is a principal investigator or work stream leader in European projects including Smarteestory, Multicare and OpenFace to innovate in façade design and engineering. She is also a member of the European Façade Network and editor of the journal of Façade Design and Engineering.
