Bio

Shuyi Gao joined the Intelligent Electrical Power Grids (IEPG) Group at the TU Delft as a Ph.D. researcher since October 2022. With a solid foundation in electrical engineering (both BSc and MSc degrees), Shuyi's current research endeavors are at the forefront of integrating reinforcement learning with the operational dynamics of electrical distribution networks, particularly focused on optimizing the dispatch of energy resources with the data-driven approach, a vital step towards realizing the vision of intelligent and responsive smart grids. It promises to enhance energy efficiency, stability, and sustainability, contributing to the mitigation of climate change and fostering a resilient energy future.

In addition to her scientific research, Shuyi is an active participant in the EU project FemPower in the past year. By promoting effective communication among female researchers in the Clean Energy Transition sector, Shuyi is not only advocating for female's voices to be heard in this field but also working towards dismantling the barriers that have historically hindered female participation in STEM fields.
